What the test measures
- Download
- How fast data reaches you. Streaming, page loads and file downloads live or die by it.
- Upload
- How fast you send. Video calls and cloud backups care about this number more than anything else.
- Ping
- Round-trip time for a small message. Under 50 ms feels instant.
- Jitter
- How much ping wobbles. High jitter makes audio robotic even on a fast line.
- Latency under load
- Response time while the line is busy. If this climbs by hundreds of milliseconds your router is queueing too much, and the fix is smart queue management, not a faster plan.
- Verdict
- A rating in plain words, plus what the connection can comfortably carry.
Get the most accurate result
1. Pause heavy use
Stop large downloads, cloud syncs, and video streams on all devices before testing.
2. Prefer a cable
Ethernet removes Wi-Fi from the equation. For Wi-Fi tests, stand near the router.
3. Test more than once
Run tests at different times of day. One slow evening result is normal; consistent slowness is not.
Straight answers
How does the speed test work?
Your browser downloads and uploads bursts of random data to our server while we time the transfers. We also measure ping and jitter, including while the connection is busy. Most speed tests skip that part.
Why is my result lower than my internet plan?
Advertised plan speeds describe an ideal wired connection. Wi-Fi distance, older routers, busy hours, VPNs, and the device you test with all lower the measured number. See our guide to slow Wi-Fi.
What is a good result?

Is my data private?
We never store your full IP address, and shareable result links contain only your speed numbers. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
